As I explained, this was due to the fact that I accidentally activated privacy settings that say “Allow normal visitors but block search engines”. What was I doing/thinking?

After setting everything correctly as they should be, I decided to give Google some time to revisit this blog and index its content. With 63 posts and a few pages, I was expecting at most 70 pages to be indexed by Google search engine. To my greatest surprise, however, according to the Probcomp toolbar which is famous for its accurate display of traffic and page ranks for Google, Bing, Yahoo, Quantcast, Compete and Alexa, 145 pages of Blogress have been indexed by Google.

I couldn’t believe it so I asked Uncle Che how possible this could be? He explained to me that not only pages (about, contact, etc…) and posts (articles) are being indexed by search engines but also Categories, Tags and Archives. Hmmm

With 145 indexed pages and a Google page rank of 1/10, I can say I am back to being a happy blogger on my premium domain name www.bloggress.com

Do Students Really Find Pleasure in Crimes? http://www.bloggress.com/do-students-really-find-pleasure-in-crimes.html http://www.bloggress.com/do-students-really-find-pleasure-in-crimes.html#comments Tue, 02 Feb 2010 14:20:08 +0000 Bloggress http://www.bloggress.com/?p=122 Many parents and teachers do believe students are very fond of crimes. They don’t see any reason why a student should go late to school, make some noise in class, fail to possess basic materials, refuse to work during manual labour, absent from sports, fail to do homework… etc. They suaually attribute all of the above to headiness and intentional acts.

For pupils, the situation is a bit different. They are very afraid of their teachers (probably because they, the pupils, are very young). Moat acts of disobidience by pupils are considered as ignorance or incapacity.Hence, their instructors take more time culturing and orientation, than punishing them.

Now, back to students. The student age in cameroon starts as early as 10 years. This may sound strange but there are very bright students who because of doubble promotions make it to form 1 of secondary school at the age of 10.  If we like tro stick to the fact that students are grownups and they enjoy sticking to disobidience and crimes, is a child of 10 really a grownup?

There essential things that students know are right and they are very awares that skiking to the rules will keep them away from the whip.  When they don’t comply, may they need to be educated on how imprtant the issed at hand is. I think that is the job of the parents and instructors.

Most of us have once been students. I am still a student. I can’t confortably say that spirit of rebellion is thrown away. Not yet.

One Month After Christmas http://www.bloggress.com/one-month-after-christmas.html http://www.bloggress.com/one-month-after-christmas.html#comments Tue, 26 Jan 2010 08:33:44 +0000 Bloggress http://www.bloggress.com/?p=143 Early this morning, I overheard a neighbor scolding her kid about stuff she bought for him at Christmas and in just a short period of one month, they are getting bad and out of shape. What does she expect? Those are certainly the best that kid has got and will always like putting them on too frequent.

The best aspect of Christmas for Children is that they dream of gifts, big ones from parents and relatives. Gifts here include clothes, shoes and jewelry. The very young ones expect the above, plus some toys while the much older ones expect the above plus some “treasonable” sum of money as allowance.

With the great buzz on the streets about latest trends in fashion, kids expect just more than clothes. They expect the type that will make them feel very proud and their friends jealous of them. Failing to provide a child with one that meets standards often leads to that child spending the 25th in sorrow.

After the celebrations, the child falls in love with the gifts and won’t let them go. You still see them in their elegant dresses and toying around with toys.

Christmas, normally, is not a flash display but unfortunately kids don’t understand that. It is our responsibility as parents to slowly walk them into it but first, we must start with the flash.

“You need to have your blog posts indexed by Google.  Currently you only have a page or two indexed by Google and the other search engines.  Once you begin getting your pages indexed then you can resubmit the blog”

It was a bit difficult for me top understand why my blog posts were not being indexed by Google. The blog had a page rank 0. Could that be the issue? Not at all. I have seen an unlimited number of sites with pagerank 0 being indexed and ranking high in search engine results. At one point, I just gave it all up and didn’t even care to continue blogging.

Today, however, when I was browsing on Uncle Che’s computer, I realised that he has the Probcomp toolbar installed in Mozilla Firefox. This toolbar gives ranking and indexing information about any website opened. When I visited this blog, I realized it has a pagerank of 1 but yet, no indexed pages. How does Google rank a site without indexing it?

Now, I took things a little more serious this time around. I installed an xml sitemap plugin, created a Google Webmaster account, verified my site and added the xml sitemap I created. I am expecting the site to be indexed within the next 24hrs an a complete report of index status posted to my account. I guess I just have to be patient.

How anxious was I to go to Bamenda during the X-mas and New year holiday to celebrate, have a nice time with my family and visit my friends. I thought of it as a very enjoyable moment but never reflected on the fact that it was going to be short-lived.

A break of this nature is the perfect type of vacation that can give someone a cool mind and relaxed brain. I stayed away from many tedious activities, especially reading and working hard in the farm. However, this doesn’t mean I had to be very lazy. Og no! I enjoyed taking part of the house chores and extending help I haven’t been to the kids after a long time. They enjoyed playing with me so I had to allocate time for that too.

I am traveling back to Buea this night. When I think about the trip and seeing Buea once again, the first thing that comes to my mind is “education”. Well, that’s my job and I can’t run away from it.

I thank you Lord, for last year.
You made 2008 my year, filled with success and happiness
You favored me in every situation I found myself in.

I was to greedy asking for so many things
Some of which I never needed
Some of which you provided but I failed to realize
Some of which I needed but asked for too much

This year, I will ask again but with lots of respect and consideration
I know you have already stocked it all for me
I therefore pray that you also reserve some for the needy
House the homeless, feed the hungry, protect the weak and clothe the naked

You did it for the people in the old, who had much faith
Now, you are doing it for me too who has little faith
That’s why I never fail to see it more grace than merit.
You are my father and I will do all to remain your child

Amen

I saw the second hand of the clock, together with the minute and hour hands all strike 12 at midnight, commencing the very first second. minute, hour, day and month of 2010.

What was I waiting for? What did I expect to see? Nothing at all. I just wanted to start the year in prayer and blogging. After praying for a few minutes, here I am on my very first post for 2010.

2009 was quite a success for me in every domain; home and family, education, love relationship..etc. No prayer will be enough to thank God for that.

The very first thing I will to thanks the Lord for is that I AM ALIVE.

The Significance of Christmas – Should Christians Celebrate X-Mas? http://www.bloggress.com/the-significance-of-christmas-should-christians-celebrate-x-mas.html http://www.bloggress.com/the-significance-of-christmas-should-christians-celebrate-x-mas.html#comments Thu, 24 Dec 2009 15:37:04 +0000 Bloggress http://www.bloggress.com/?p=128 Christmas is probably one of the biggest holidays being observed and celebrated in the world. I do understand that not everyone wants to take anything seriously but personally I am upset with the way X-mas is being “celebrated”.

What does X-mas signify? Simply the day Christ was born. If we are celebrating that God sent his only Son to bear our sins and die with them on the cross, can’t we handle that with so much care and respect? Instead, most people use that day to commit more sins than they have ever before, gluttony, adultery, drunkenness, etc.

I am guilty of what I am against, yes, but the point here is that if we have misled ourselves, let’s not mislead the younger generation. We have to let them understand that x-mas is not just about the travel, new clothes, too much eating and drinking, partying..etc. It is a day for us to calmly and quitey refelect over our christian values and evaluate how much we are grateful for Christ’s sacrifice for us.

Most people don’t celebrate Christmas. Some of them who don’t, give one clear logical reason – No one knows the exact day Jesus Christ was born and so picking up Dec 25th and celebrating it as Christ’s birthday is falsehood. Well, I think no one actually wants to believe Christ was born on Dec 25th. He was not.

What I think we are celebrating during X-mas is his birth and NOT his birthday.

This is X-mas Eve. Merry X-Mas to you all. I hope we shall all celebrate it wisely.

I have to travel to Bamenda, North West Region, Cameroon and spend some time with my family during this X-mas and New Year period. I know that Naughty Baby of mine won’t let me go. I guess he has to, because he knows staying back can’t be an option. “Baby, why don’t you go tomorrow”? No! I won’t welcome such suggestions because, like James Bond rightly said,  tomorrow shall never die.

Each time I am leaving, I feel so excited, yet guilty. I feel torn up between being here for him and being there for my family. I spend most of my time with him, yet the few momments I spend elsewhere is like hell for me and no one can be a substitute for his presence. Not even my own family. Well, I only pray that when I am gone, he should take good care of himeself and remain “Mr. Nice Guy” till I return.

Is it? This is December already? Wow. Eleven months have flown by and soon, we shall be ringing bells welcoming 2009.

Whenever I think of a new year coming, the very fist think that comes across my mind is December 31, 1999. Do you believe that those stories of the world ending on that day actually scared lots of people? Ha ha ha.

At the last hour of that millennium, people stood outside their homes staring at the sky and waiting with their fingers crossed and trembling as the minutes gradually died down. To me, all this was fun and entertainment.

I always felt like asking people “what do you have to lose if the world is ending”? Definitely it is ending for everybody. If you are having some worries and those worries are about meeting Christ our Lord and Savior after the world ends, then to me that is justified. If your worries are about “missing all the good things on this planet”, my friend, you better think again.
